BHOPAL: A 55-year-old man lay down his life while protecting his wife from a swarm of honeybees in a forest in Madhya Pradesh's Shahdol district on Saturday.
The couple was out in the forest herding cattle near Khandari village in the district when the attack happened. Siyawati was at some distance when Samay Lal saw her being attacked by the bees. He rushed to Siyawati, covering her with his shawl to thwart the attack. The bees then turned to him, killing him on the spot, Sidhi police station in charge, Rajkumar Mishra, told TOI.
Mishra said Siyawati was admitted to hospital with severe injuries. Doctors said she is out of danger. "A case of unnatural death has been registered," Mishra added.
