Premier League ace's agent gives Alexander Isak a run for his money after request to leave

It's been a frustrating summer as far as Alexander Isak has been concerned, with the striker keen to leave Newcastle United for pastures new. In a gutsy statement released on his social media page, Isak called out his current employers, claiming they've "broken promises" that were made to him ahead of the summer window.

Liverpool are the side chasing his signature, with the Merseysiders having already seen one offer turned down by Newcastle. It's claimed a bid in the region of £150m could force Newcastle's hands, but with three years left on Isak's deal, it looks like the North East-based outfit currently holds all the cards.

Isak's representatives have come under fire for not negotiating a release clause into the Swede's contract, but according to one former Premier League icon, they don't come close to one pushy agent. Jose Mourinho has previously opened up about his time with Lassana Diarra, claiming the midfielder's agent was never happy, regardless of his client's situation.

Speaking on The Obi One Podcast, Mourinho explained: "I coached Lassana Diarra at Real Madrid and Chelsea, and all the white hair I have is because of Lassana and his agent... When Lassana played 90 minutes and had a good match, his agent came the next day to ask for a new contract and a pay raise."

Laughing, Mourinho continued: "When Lassana stayed on the bench and wasn't playing, his agent would come Monday morning to ask for a meeting because Lassana wanted to leave."

It was clearly something that rubbed off on his team-mates, with host of the show, John Obi Mikel, adding: "Boss, I remember the meeting he had with you before he left Chelsea in your office. You had to get people to come and physically drag him out of your office."

It will come as little consolation for Isak's agent, who has been blasted for his role in the saga. Speaking to Betfair, Alan Shearer said: "I mean, oh my God, what a f***ing mess his agent has made of this, honestly.

"If I was him, I'd get his agent in a room and sack him on the spot immediately, because he is meant to be giving him the advice to sign that sixyear deal and there's no getout clause. I mean, it's ridiculous. And to take anyone's word in football... it's nonsensical to say that someone said, 'Oh, I'll be able to get out at the end of the season.' Really? I mean, come on."
