
Former Manchester United star Paul Ince has been charged with drink driving following a collision in Cheshire on Saturday. The ex-midfielder is said to have crashed his black Range Rover into a central reservation.
The former England captain was held by police following the incident, and a statement from Cheshire Police has confirmed that the 57-year-old will appear before Cheshire Magistrates next week.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "At around 5pm on Saturday 28 June, police were called following reports of a collision on Chester High Road, Neston. The incident involved a black Range Rover which had collided with the central reservation barrier.
"Officers attended the scene and arrested a 57-year-old man. Paul Ince, of Neston, has since been charged with drink driving. Ince has been bailed to appear at Chester Magistrates' Court on Friday 18 July."
According to the Daily Mail, Ince's collision occurred at the Heswall Golf Club, where he has posted content and shared pictures on his Instagram previously. The former Reading manager has 24,700 followers on the social media platform.
Ince made history as a player, becoming the first black man to captain England. He made a total of 53 appearances for the Three Lions.

Ince came through the West Ham academy before going on to make a significant impact in the first team. He then made a big-money move to Old Trafford and spent six years with United under Sir Alex Ferguson, winning two Premier League titles, the FA Cup twice and the 1992 League Cup.
The midfielder then went on to spend two years with Italian outfit Inter Milan before returning to England and joining Liverpool. Ince spent two years at Anfield and scored 14 goals in 65 appearances for the club. He went on to spend time with Middlesbrough and Wolves before playing out the final years of his career with Swindon Town and Macclesfield.
After retiring, Ince headed into management and has spent time with Macclesfield, MK Dons, Blackburn, Notts County, Blackpool and Reading. He has been without a club since 2023 when he left his role with Reading. His son, Tom, currently plays for Watford.
