Our Yorkshire Farm's Clive Owen says 'this is my last day' as he's forced to step back

Send Push

Clive Owen, the beloved face of Our Yorkshire Farm, recently had to pause his agricultural endeavours due to hip replacement surgery.

In a rerun of Our Farm Next Door airing today, Clive shared his reluctance about the operation that necessitated a temporary withdrawal from his farming responsibilities. Addressing the viewers, Clive remarked: "I don't want folk to think I just stand around and ponder."

He continued with a touch of resignation: "Tomorrow, I have got to be in hospital for half 7 in the morning for a new hip. So, I wouldn't say I am really looking forward to it, but that is what's going to happen, so this is my last day for a little while.

"I'll be back, and I'll just have to tell everyone what to do and drive them all mad."

Despite some nerves, Clive was resolute, stating: "I am going to be a bit nervous, but I am alright with it, I'll do exactly what they tell me, and the next thing you wake up and it's done," reports the Manchester Evening News.

"I have had one you see so I know the procedure, like it or not that is what is happening tomorrow."

The episode also captures Clive orchestrating his sons' efforts to keep the farm running smoothly as he recuperates.

Even amid recovery, Clive's wit remained intact as he admitted: "I have definitely been a horrible patient because I am impatient."

He didn't shy away from praising his sons for their indispensable help during his downtime, acknowledging, "I couldn't have managed without these lads to do what needed doing. So yeah, they have done very well."

Clive hinted that his sons might keep the lead, remarking: "It means from now on they needn't hand the reins back to me, they can just carry on.

"I could find myself redundant," he joked, then turned to his son and inquired, "What do you think, Miley?".

He underscored the core value of family farming: "That is what family farms are all about, everybody has to help."
