The M1 has been shut in one direction after a major crash between a car and a tanker that left one vehicle "resting on its side".
National Highways said the motorway remained shut northbound between Junction 15 and Junction 15A, past Northampton, following the collision which happened shortly before 11pm last night. There have been no confirmed casualties.
"Two lanes of four are closed within Junction 15 of the M1 northbound in Northamptonshire," a spokesperson said. "The northbound entry slip at Junction 15 is also closed. This is due to a collision that occurred yesterday evening resulting in an overturned tanker.
"A complex recovery operation is ongoing."
