Loose Women presenter Charlene White made a candid admission about trying to understand why her father chose to take his own life. Alongside a collection of photos of her late dad, Denniston, the ITV broadcaster shared a heartbreaking statement on Friday about spending "many, many hours" struggling to wrap her head around his tragic death. Charlene also revealed the family said a final goodbye to him this week with a touching send-off, including "traditional Jamaican nine-night," and admitted that she's learning to accept that she may never know why he took his life.

Taking to Instagram, the panellist penned the emotional caption: "This week we said a final goodbye to my dad. Two services and a huge wake... hundreds came to celebrate a man who meant so much to so many. "We've spent many, many hours asking ourselves why he decided to take his own life, and we'll no doubt spend many more." She added: "But the reality is we may never know, and we have to find a way live alongside that truth."

Charlene continued: "But what we do know is we don't want others to feel like they have no choice but to succumb to the darkness, nor do we want any other family to be left with the pain, hurt and heartache that we are now living with."

The ITV News presenter then explained that instead of asking for flowers they are raising money for Black Minds Matter UK, "a charity that provides culturally appropriate support and talking therapies with, and for, the Black community".

Charlene also shared how she and her family are taking steps to move forward in light of Denniston's passing and wrote: "We've had sessions with the brilliant @suicideandco therapists, and talked about what the new normal is supposed to look like.

"The reality is, none of us really knows yet. And that's okay. And we have a village holding us up, and we have each other.

"Thank you to everyone who's reached out, sent their love, and shared their own stories of suicide loss. And to those who've dealt with those stories alone and in secret, we send our heartfelt love to you."

Charlene's comments were inundated with touching tributes and messages of support from her celebrity pals, including fellow Loose Women star Judi Love, who shared: "It was a beautiful celebration of your wonderful father. We love you all so much."

Their co-star Coleen Nolan added: "Oh Charlene, so so sorry to hear this news... Thinking of you and your family! Love you."

Nadia Sawalha echoed: "Charlene .. Oh my darling I'm in total shock for you. You have such a wonderfully close and loving family. Your adoration for your father always shines so brightly when you talk about him. The hugest of hugs. xx"

GB News' Eamonn Holmes penned: "So sorry for you loss Charlene."
