Gianluigi Donnarumma is almost guaranteed to leave PSG this summer with two Premier League clubs reportedly keen on his signature. The former AC Milan goalkeeper is widely regarded as one of the world's best shot-stoppers and played a crucial role as PSG won the Champions League last season. In spite of those heroics, he is set to be forced out of the French capital in the coming weeks.
Donnarumma only has a year remaining on his current deal and negotiations have failed to provide a breakthrough. As a result, he is expected to be sold before the end of the summer window. A number of clubs have been linked with the Italy goalkeeper but a couple of Premier League sides have reportedly emerged as the frontrunners.
Manchester United and Chelsea have reached out to PSG to confirm their interest in signing the 26-year-old, according to French outlet RMC Sport.
United have been tipped to sign a new goalkeeper to replace Andre Onana, who has struggled to prove himself since joining from Inter Milan. He made a series of glaring mistakes last season, raising the prospect of the Red Devils seeking another option.
Ruben Amorim recently hinted at the prospect of landing a new stopper, saying: "To hope is a strong word. We are always looking to improve the team and we have some characteristics that we would like to have.
"But again, it depends on the market. It depends on the sales. We'll see, but I'm really happy and I think even when you talk about Andre, you can see the goalkeepers.
"Even Tom [Heaton] is leaner, he's a different goalkeeper. Altay [Bayindir] did really well and Onana is going to be better like the other guys that are getting better this year."
Chelsea, meanwhile, look set to head into the new season with Robert Sanchez as their first choice between the sticks. He is also prone to errors and has failed to establish himself as a dependable asset for the Blues.
Djordje Petrovic and Kepa Arrizabalaga have both left Stamford Bridge since the end of last season, meaning there is room for Chelsea to bring in another goalkeeper before the window slams shut.
The report adds that while Donnarumma wants to leave PSG this summer, he will only consider projects that suit his needs. Otherwise, he would be happy to stay at the Parc des Princes and run down the remainder of his contract.
He is likely to seek guarantees about playing time ahead of the World Cup taking place next summer. PSG have already replaced him with Lucas Chevalier, who they signed from Lille earlier this month.
Donnarumma has also been left out of their squad for the upcoming UEFA Super Cup, where they will face Europa League winners Tottenham in the goalkeeper's native Italy.
