David Beckham was spotted with a sling on his arm as he watched his Inter Miami team suffer a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday. The Parisians steamrolled the American team early on as they netted all four of their goals before half-time to knock Inter Miami out of the Club World Cup.
Beckham, who won 115 caps for England, played for LA Galaxy in MLS between 2007 and 2013, while also enjoying a couple of loan spells with AC Milan during that period. He ended his playing days in 2013 following a brief spell with PSG, before exercising his option to launch a franchise team in Miami.
Beckham made his way to the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, to watch PSG and Inter Miami go head-to-head in the last-16 of the Club World Cup.
And ahead of kick-off, the 50-year-old was spotted standing alongside son Romeo and also chatting to his former PSG team-mate Blaise Matuidi.
The ex-Manchester United midfielder was all smiles despite the fact that he was wearing a blue sling after undergoing an operation on his wrist earlier this week.
Beckham was forced to undergo the knife to remove a screw from his wrist that had been in his forearm for more than two decades.
The metal pin, which was supposed to have dissolved, was in his arm following an operation he had when he broke his wrist during a friendly between England and South Africa that took place at Durban's Kings Park Stadium in May 2003.
Beckham was named as England captain for the match by then-Three Lions boss Sven-Goran Eriksson but suffered the broken wrist when he fell awkwardly following a challenge with Thabang Molefe.
He initially played on but was forced off six minutes into the second half as Jermaine Jenas came on in his place. He was immediately taken to hospital, where the screw was inserted.
Recent X-rays showed the screw had become lodged in Beckham's forearm, with a source telling The Sun: "David had been in pain for years but thought nothing of it. He just kept going until, in recent months, it became quite unbearable."
The England hero's wife - former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham - accompanied the ex-Red Devils star to hospital for his recent operation and posted a couple of pictures to Instagram at the end of last week to update people on his condition.
The first one showed Beckham smiling with the sling on and was captioned: "Get well soon daddy." And the second picture showed Beckham wearing a band on his hand that read: "Get well soon."
