Google is weeks away from launching its latest Pixel smartphone but Amazon is tempting shoppers into sticking with the latest model. That's because the Google Pixel 9 Pro has just been reduced from £999 to £679 - a huge £320 discount.
There's also a hefty £302 price drop on the Google Pixel 9, now down from £899 to £597. It comes ahead of the next Made By Google Event on August 20, where Google is expected to unveil the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 XL and Pixel 10 Pro Fold in New York City.
But those sticking with the Pixel 9 Pro can enjoy a powerful device packed with Google Gemini's Artificial Intelligence (AI) features such as Circle to Search, AI generated images and help creating a recipe. The phone is powered by Google's Tensor G4 chip, said to be the brand's 'fastest, most efficient chip' ever.
The Pixel 9 Pro also boasts a triple rear camera system with a 50MP main camera and 48MP telephoto lens. Other standout features include a 6.3" Super Actua display for 'bright and vivid' images, an IP68 dust and water resistance rating and provides seven years of security updates.
Amazon isn't the only retailer offering Pixel 9 Pro deals, as Mobiles.co.uk is offering free Pixel buds and smartwatches with its own tariffs, including iD Mobile's £28.99 plan with 100GB and £89 upfront, which currently comes with a free pair of Pixel Buds Pro 2. Shoppers looking for a more affordable smartphone may want to consider the Google Pixel 9a, touted as a more budget-friendly version of the standard Google Pixel 9.
Sky Mobile offers this model for £13 when spreading the cost alongside a Sky data plan. If you're wondering how the Pixel 9 Pro device performes, writer Chris Hall has rated the features he likes the most, after using the device for the last few months.
Alternatively, the Google Pixel 9 Pro has earned a 4.4-star rating after more than 600 Amazon reviews. One happy customer said: "The Pixel 9 Pro is fantastic. The camera is outstanding, especially in low light, with crisp detail and natural colors.
"Performance is smooth and responsive thanks to the upgraded Tensor chip and the bright OLED display makes everything pop. The battery life easily lasts a full day and the clean Android experience with regular updates is a major plus. It's a premium phone that feels polished, smart and reliable."
Another said: "I can't fault it. I came from iPhones after the iPhone 16. It's seamless for me, feels very much like an iPhone but just much better and customisable. Camera is excellent, even the capacity to swipe back with your thumb is a revelation."
Some have criticised the Pixel 9 Pro battery, as this user said: "It's a very good phone but the problem is the battery. It runs out too quickly."
Another person said: "Best Android phone for 2024. The cameras are insanely good thanks to Google's AI Processing, they fixed the slow Tensor chipset performance issues, everything is snappy now you would think it has a Snapdragon if you didn't see the specs. Battery life is stellar, I can get one to 1.5 days easily with moderate usage and it looks perfect."
