If, like most of BookTok, you're a fan of 'A Court of Thorns and Roses,' you were likely flabbergasted at the sneaky announcement over the weekend. If you're not a fan of ACOTAR already, then you seriously need to read it - it's the perfect romantasy novel, and some of the books are slightly spicy if that's what you're into.
Author Sarah J. Maas sneakily posted a video of her closing a notebook, which seemed to say that she was writing ACOTAR 6 on the front cover, closing her laptop, and popping a bottle of Champagne to celebrate her "first drafts DONE".
This prompted social media to come up with many, many, theories, saying that Sarah is so "intentional" with what she says, and if she says drafts, she means more than one book is coming.
Others said that they believed there were at least two books on the way because A Court of Frost and Starlight is technically book 3.5 in the series, meaning that 5 and 6 would need to be en route.
In the comments of her Instagram post, someone joked: "'You look happier today,' Thanks, I just woke up to the news that ACOTAR 6 is finally coming".
Wading in on the speculations, Joel Wood took to his TikTok to gush that the book was finally coming, saying that there's been "movement from Sarah," because the whole of the bookish community has been waiting for a while for this.
Holding the five books in the series up, he joked: "How have I been sleeping while this has been out in the universe?"
He then had a question: "Does this say ACOTAR six to eight? Or does it just say ACOTAR onwards?" asking whether it was an arrow.
"What colour's it gonna be, Sarah? What's the title? What's it gonna be about? Is it thick?" Joel asked, which are big questions that many will want to know the answer to.
He joked that he wanted it to be the thickness of at least three of the books in the series.
Joel continued: "I'm just so glad that A, you're alive, Sarah, B, a draft has been finished, and C, I dunno. This is just the best Saturday ever".
In the comments of his video, someone gushed, "The ACOTAR 6 can be as thick as all those five books combined, and I would still read it."
Another penned: "6 onwards!! That's what my first thought was! A little tease to it possibly being 2, possibly 3 more books?? ACOTAR 6 parts 1/2/3?? Who knows! Can't wait!"
However, a book lover said that they thought it was just "D for draft," rather than anything else.
Somebody else shared: "The caption says: first draftS as in PLURAL, no way a writer would miss the apostrophe".
