Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday unearthed three multi-storey buildings and seven plots during raids on Mahakalapada Tehsildar Siba Mallick, who was allegedly caught red-handed accepting Rs 20,000 bribe the previous day.
Household articles worth Rs 7 lakh, Rs 1.54 lakh in cash and four 2-wheelers were also seized.
His properties in Kendrapada district include a triple-storey market complex with 3 big halls and 3 shops, which was built in 2024 at Bhagabatpur, a double-storey building over 2700 sq ft area, also built in 2024-25 at Ganeshpur, and another two-storey building constructed over 4,600 sq ft area in 2018-2019 at Baghilobabanpur in Derabis.
All seven plots owned by him are on the outskirts of Kendrapada town.
On Tuesday, Mallick, an OAS officer, was arrested for allegedly taking the illegal gratification from one Antrajami Swain of Kianaelo village to help remove an encroachment on government land, which was obstructing the passage to his house. The tehsildar had also threatened to keep the file pending for years if Swain failed to pay the bribe.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are underway at six locations linked to the OAS officer to ascertain whether he has accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
