Bollywood’s Saiyaara has stormed the box office and is fast becoming one of 2025’s biggest hits—leaving even Hollywood giants like Superman in the dust. The emotional love story has resonated with audiences not only in India but across the globe. Fans have been spotted coming out of theatres teary-eyed, praising the film’s powerful storytelling.
But in the wake of Saiyaara’s success, the momentum of Superman—a massive production made on a whopping budget of ₹1800 crore—has drastically faded. Once a major crowd-puller, Superman has now become almost invisible on the Indian box office radar.
Superman’s Collection Drops DrasticallyInitially, Superman dominated Indian screens. But since Saiyaara’s release, its collections have nosedived. The film could only gather ₹50 lakhs last Thursday and has failed to even cross ₹1 crore on any day in the past four days. As of now, its total collection in India stands at a disappointing ₹44 crore in two weeks.
Saiyaara Roars with Massive EarningsIn sharp contrast, Saiyaara has turned into a juggernaut. Within just 7 days of release, it has earned ₹172.5 crore domestically and crossed ₹220 crore worldwide. It’s being hailed as the biggest surprise blockbuster of the year, overshadowing every release around it.
Hollywood’s Mixed Run in IndiaWhile Superman faltered, other Hollywood films are doing reasonably well in India. Brad Pitt’s F1 film has earned over ₹100 crore, and Jurassic World: Rebirth crossed the ₹90 crore mark. Still, none of them have managed to match Saiyaara’s box office dominance.
