TV shows come and go, but some characters leave an unforgettable mark — and Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai is a shining example of this. Premiering in 2015, this comedy sitcom has become a household favorite, thanks to its quirky characters and humorous storyline. While characters like Vibhuti Narayan and Angoori Bhabhi are beloved, the elegant and modern "Gori Mem" a.k.a. Anita Bhabhi also left a lasting impression. And if you thought Shweta Tiwari was the epitome of timeless beauty, it’s time to revisit Saumya Tandon — the original Gori Mem — who is now over 40 and still radiates glamour and grace in real life.

Saumya Tandon, who played the character of Anita Bhabhi in the initial years of the show, stepped away from television to focus on her personal life. Her exit broke the hearts of countless fans, but she has continued to remain in the limelight, especially on social media, where she shares glimpses of her glamorous lifestyle, fitness journey, and motherhood. With 1.8 million followers on Instagram, Saumya still commands a massive fan base.

In 2019, Saumya embraced motherhood with the birth of her son Miran. While she took a break from acting, her fans never stopped admiring her style and charm. Despite staying away from the daily soap circuit, she is regularly praised for her radiant looks and fitness even in her 40s.

Interestingly, Saumya didn’t even want to do Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai initially. She revealed in interviews that she rejected the show several times, simply because she disliked the title and the idea of being called “Bhabhi.” Having previously hosted shows like Dance India Dance, she was more inclined toward non-fiction television. In fact, her then-boyfriend even joked that her image would now forever be linked to that of a "bhabhi."

Even after accepting the role, Saumya considered backing out — until the show's makers threatened to take legal action against her. But destiny had its plans. The show took off, her character became a fan favorite, and Saumya eventually found joy in the project she once hesitated to accept.
