NIGHT TARA should get back to winning ways in the Sky Sports Racing Virgin 519 Fillies' Handicap (1.50) at Southwell on Thursday.
The Sir Mark Prescott-trained daughter of Night Of Thunder, unraced as a two-year-old, failed to trouble the judge at Newcastle, Carlisle and Chepstow on her first three outings of 2025.
She earned a British Horseracing Authority handicap mark of 57 as a result and made a successful debut in the sphere when stepping up from a mile to 10 furlongs at Chelmsford City in the middle of last month, getting up close home to beat Sansanetti by a short head.
Night Tara reappeared in an apprentice handicap over the same course and distance last Saturday and narrowly failed in the follow-up attempt with a half-length second to Masqool.
That effort needs upgrading – my selection raced wide on the turn before rattling home - and an additional furlong round Southwell’s galloping layout will help a filly who still has more to offer on the sixth outing of her career.
At Lingfield Park, LITTLE KEILEE, second at Wolverhampton and Newmarket on her last two starts, is the choice to go one better by giving her eight opponents weight and a beating in the Download The Raceday Ready App Fillies' Handicap (6.50).
