Chelsea have been handed the chance to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma after he failed to agree a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain. Donnarumma, 26, has entered the final year of his current deal and PSG want to avoid losing him for nothing next summer - as they did with Kylian Mbappe in 2024.
The Italian goalkeeper is fresh off helping Luis Enrique's men reach the Club World Cup final. Donnarumma's performances in the knockout phase of the Champions League were also crucial in helping PSG lift first ever European Cup.
But in a stunning development, L'Equipe report that Parc des Princes chiefs are now looking to sell him this summer. It comes after the 26-year-old refused to sign a new contract.
PSG are wary of history repeating itself after the Mbappe debacle, so they'll listen to offers. That's opened the door for Chelsea, who are said to be interested in Donnarumma.
The Blues came close to signing AC Milan's Mike Maignan in June. Enzo Maresca's side were in talks prior to the Club World Cup but walked away from negotiations after being put off by Milan's £25m asking price.

Donnarumma could therefore be the answer to Chelsea's long-running problem in goal. Robert Sanchez hasn't convinced fans, although he did earn plaudits for his displays at the Club World Cup.
PSG are reportedly already looking at replacements for Donnarumma, with Lille's Lucas Chevalier and Porto shot-stopper Diogo Costa on their shortlist. It's claimed that Turkish giants Galatasaray have already made a bid for Donnarumma, who's also been the subject of interest from Manchester United.
Napoli were also linked with Donnarumma but his agent, Enzo Raiola - cousin of the late super agent, Mino - dismissed the speculation, insisting that his focus was on contract talks with PSG. "It's pure fantasy. I've an excellent relationship with Director Giovanni Manna at [Napoli], but we've never discussed Gigio," Raiola told Radio CRC via Calciomercato.
How much is Gianluigi Donnarumma worth? Have your say in the comments section.
"It's an obvious question; many would like him, but only a few can afford him. He feels good in Paris, we're at the European champion club, so we have no complaints. We are working on a renewal [with PSG]."
The situation appears to have changed, though, and the Italy international could be on his way out of Paris. Donnaruma is understand to earn roughly £200,000 per week at PSG.
