Celebrity Traitors fans thrilled as show brings back iconic challenge in murder twist

BBC Celebrity Traitors fans were left thrilled during tonight's episode, as they got a blast from the past with the iconic funeral challenge.

In tonight's episode, viewers saw Alan Carrchoose to murder Paloma Faith in plain sight, after the Traitors were given the mission in the first episode. Alan, Jonathan Ross and Cat Burns were told by Claudia that they must secretly murder one of the Faithfuls by touching their face.

As a group, they decided it was best for Alan to commit the 'crime' as he'd be the least suspecting. So, in tonight's episode, he did what was needed to be done, although he claimed killing her off "broke my heart".

However, the later on in the game all 19 celebrities turned up at breakfast, and Paloma looked over the moon to be there, as she expressed her excitement to Traitor Cat, who knew what was going on all along.

Claudia later revealed that someone had been murdered in plain sight. She then told the players to get their 'mourning clothes' ready - as it seemed they had clicked onto what had gone down.

"A high profile death deserves a high profile funeral," Claudia announced, as she took the celebs on a walk. The were then asked to figure out who had been murdered, as they went through a series of clues.

After the clues, YouTuber Niko Omilana and comic Lucy Beaumont were also placed in a coffin - as chosen by the Traitors.

The challenge mirrored that of season 2, in which fan favourite Diane Carson, who was silently poisoned by the Traitors and then made to attend her own funeral.

Three players lay in the coffin, with each safe contestant giving a rose to the one they thought had been poisoned. In the end - it was Diane who left.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter to express their excitement over the iconic challenge being back, one fan penned: "mourning attire… getting flashbacks to mother diane’s death WE R SO BACK!!"

Another wrote: "Oh my god are we getting another Diane death moment?" while a third excited fan penned: "i can’t believe they’ve diane’d paloma faith i’m devastated!!"

A third excited fan wrote: "Throwback to the most ICONIC traitors episodes!! Diane forever!"
