A songwriter, whose music featured on Spider-Man 2, has tragically died age 44. Derek A.E. Fuhrmann, whose wife recently welcomed the couple's baby son, River, into the world, was suffering from cancer and passed away in Nashville on June 27.
Best known for writing music, which appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Derek's hit song, Gone Gone Gone reached number 24 in the Billboard Hot 100 US charts. However, before making music for movies, he was part of a band called Omnisoul, which was formed while Derek was a student at the University of Delaware.
Paying tribute to their friend, the group posted on social media: "Derek was many things to us. We remember him as gentle, patient, caring, loving, and someone who stood up for what was right. He was a gifted musician and a prolific songwriter who poured his heart into everything he created."

The band, who broke up in 2008 but reunited last year to celebrate the 20th anniversary of recording its first album, continued: "None of us expected it would be the last time we'd share a stage with him.
"We hold on to the memories, the lessons, and the wild ride we were lucky enough to take together.
"There was no better way to spend our twenties than chasing that dream with Derek by our side."
Derek was married to MacKenzie, who heartbreakingly gave birth to the couple's son just weeks before he died.
Paying tribute to her "best friend", she said Derek was her "everything", posting: "I feel so lucky to have had him but so sad our time was cut so short.
"Our love was bigger than most and full of so many laughs. Derek never went a day without telling me or our boys how much he loved us.
"Watching him be a dad has forever changed me. He was so proud of our family."
In a separate post, she shared a video of her husband playing a guitar while on holiday.
Weeks before his death, Mackenzie gave birth to the couple's son, Boone River Fuhrmann.
Revealing the tot was born just before a very special occasion, she posted: "Just in time for Mothers Day. 5lb 12 ounces of delicious magic. Our hearts are so full."
