A expert has spilled the secret to elevating banana bread to new heights – and it involves an unexpected ingredient. Perfect for using up ripe bananas and reducing kitchen waste, banana bread can be made in various ways, with popular add-ins like chocolate chips, ginger and sour cream.
But according to culinary whiz Emily Lichty, the game-changer is peaches. Lichty explained: "The first switch-up is to add peaches. "In perfect summer fashion, the addition of this popular warm-weather fruit adds an extra fruity flavour and, I would guess, a lighter texture.

"What shocked me the most about the addition of peaches to this is the fact that they are blended into the recipe and not kept chopped.
"The reasoning behind this is to add a better texture and extra sweetness. But, as many reviewers suggested in the comments, I would probably keep them diced and fold them in to let the extra fruit flavour really shine."
One comment even proposed cooking the peaches and bananas with apple juice on the stovetop before adding them to the mix for an extra kick.
"The result is an even sweeter bread that they described as "heavenly. Call me intrigued."
By incorporating peaches into the mix, banana bread becomes an even more scrumptious way to rescue those quickly-ripening bananas from the bin. There's nothing more exasperating than helplessly watching your fruit bowl contents darken and spoil, reports .
However, when it comes to bananas, there are a few lesser-known tricks that can prolong the life of this favourite fruit. Bananas are often stored in less-than-ideal locations, like a fruit bowl or too close to other fruits, which speeds up their decay.
But one ordinary kitchen item could be a game-changer in extending the banana's lifespan: cling film.
A food expert at The Kitchin suggests that simply wrapping the film around the stems, where bananas emit ethylene, can slow down the ripening process.
This expert, who experimented with several methods to extend the life of bananas, rated this hack 8/10 - significantly higher than storing them in the fridge.
