Tourism in India’s heartland, Madhya Pradesh, is charting remarkable progress. The recently concluded Madhya Pradesh Travel Mart (MPTM) in Bhopal garnered investment commitments totaling Rs 3,665 crore. Evolving into a global platform that unites every facet of tourism, the Mart drew over 700 representatives from 27 States and more than 100 international tour operators. Its resounding success has prompted the State Government to establish MPTM as an annual marquee event.
Two flagship projects worth Rs 386 crore received approval - an 18-hole golf course at Sanchi and a world-class wellness resort on Nazarpur Island in Khandwa - promising unparalleled luxury and leisure experiences.
Bolstering the film industry, the State signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Balaji Telefilms, paving the way for the production of films and web series worth Rs 50 crore over the next five years. This landmark initiative marks a significant stride toward establishing the state as a premier hub for cinema and digital entertainment.
As a step to elevate luxury experiences and provide premium accommodations, the State signed agreements with EaseMyTrip and Aagman India Travel to establish tent cities at key leisure and entertainment destinations, including Hanuwantiya, Mandu, Tamia and Orchha.
Atithi Devo BhavaGuided by the timeless principle of Atithi Devo Bhava, Madhya Pradesh Tourism aspires to evolve into a modern, world-class brand. Eric Holiday of Weils Beckons Limited (UK) called the MPTM experience “unbelievable and unforgettable”, while Aurelie Dialac from France pledged to champion the State’s cultural and natural beauty on an international stage.
The cultural heartbeat of the Mart was showcased at the Village Vibes pavilion, where renowned chef Manjit Gill’s live cooking demonstrations complemented immersive displays of rural tourism and traditional handicrafts, offering visitors a captivating glimpse into Madhya Pradesh’s rich heritage.
B2B platformThe recently concluded travel mart was organized as an engine for tourism development, bringing together local stakeholders, hotels and tour operators with domestic and international travel agents through a B2B platform. The event created a stage to showcase, curate, package and promote Madhya Pradesh’s diverse travel offerings.
A dedicated platform was launched to acquaint investors with new tourism policies and emerging investment opportunities. The success of this B2B initiative is expected to boost tourist inflow while raising awareness about the region’s economic potential.
Safety and SkillInitiatives such as ‘Safe Tourism for Women’ were highlighted at the travel mart, with Chief Secretary Anurag Jain engaging directly with young women participants. He underscored the State’s unwavering commitment to creating safe and welcoming spaces for all travellers.
Showcasing handicraft exhibitions not only preserves the mastery of local artisans but also helps them access new markets. By presenting their work in a safe, skillful and culturally immersive manner, each visitor is offered a meaningful experience. With this vision, the Madhya Pradesh Government continues to propel the State’s tourism sector forward.
