Indore (Madhya Pradesh): There are reports from several parts of the district that owing to insecticides, the soybean crops standing in the fields are suddenly drying up. However, the agriculture department said it was due to a blight and advised spray of a chemical over the crops.
Deputy director, agriculture CL Kevda informed on Tuesday that there were complaints of sudden drying up of soybean plants from some areas of the district. The symptoms were of Rhizoctonia Aerial Blight.
The agriculture department has advised the farmers to spray fungicide fluxapyroxad + pyraclostrobin (300 g/ha) or pyraclostrobin + epoxiconazole (750 mg/ha) for its control. Initial symptoms of anthracnose disease are also being seen. For control, farmers should make a solution of Tebuconazole 25.9 EC (625 mg/ha) or Tebuconazole 38.39 SC (625 mg/ha) and spray.
If symptoms of yellow mosaic are visible, initially they should remove the plants from the field and spray flonicamid (200 gm/ha) and thiamethoxam + lambda cyhalothrin (125 mg/ha) or betacyfluthin + imidacloprid (350 mg/ha). This would also control stem fly.
T-shaped bird perches on the soybean crop will also help in reducing the number of caterpillars as insectivorous birds will prey on them. For the control of army worm pests on the maize crop, farmers should spray chlorantraniliprole 150 ml per hectare and keep constant monitoring.
