Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav has called for expanding the city's ongoing safety campaign by suggesting a new rule — ‘No Helmet, No Liquor.’
His statement comes as Indore enforces the ‘No Helmet, No Petrol’ and ‘No Helmet, No Entry’ rules to promote road safety.

While addressing an event, Mayor Bhargav said that safety rules should be uniform across all services. “If you can’t get petrol or enter government offices without wearing a helmet, then you should not be able to buy liquor without one either,” he said.
He added that government-run liquor shops should also follow the same rule for consistency.
The ‘No Helmet, No Petrol’ campaign entered its third day on Sunday, with petrol pumps strictly denying fuel to riders without helmets.
The administration has even sealed two petrol stations for violating the rule. Boards have been placed at fuel stations to inform the public about the rule.

That suggestion was accepted and enforced by Indore Collector Ashish Singh. Now, with his call for ‘No Helmet, No Liquor,’ the Mayor continues to push for broader safety reforms in the city.
Petrol sales drop
After the implementation of the 'No Helmet, No Petrol' rule in Indore, petrol sales have dropped by 30% on a daily basis. According to petrol pump operators, the city used to sell around 10 lakh litres of petrol every day before the rule came into effect.
However, on the first day of enforcement, sales dropped by nearly 3 lakh litres, marking a 30% decline.
