Veteran Bollywood lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar gave a befitting reply to a netizen on Saturday (August 16) after the latter took a dig at former over his Indepence Day post on X. For those unversed, Akhtar shared a post to wish his followers on the occasion of Independence Day.
He wrote, "Happy Independence Day to all my Indian sisters and brothers. Let’s not forget this independence was not given to us on a platter. Today we must remember and salute those who went to jails and those went to gallows for getting us Azaadi. Let’s see that we never lose this precious gift."
However, reacting to his post, a user commented, "Aapka happy independence to 14th August hai (the day when Pakistan celebrates Independence Day)."

However, the lyricist was in no mood to ignore the troll. He clapped back at the user saying, "Beta jab tumhare baap dada angrez ke joote chaat rahe thay mere buzurg desh ki aazadi ke liye kaala pani mein mar rahe thay. Apni auqat mein raho."
Another user called him 'gaddar (traitor)'. To this comment, Akhtar replied, "Gaddaar voh hain jo non cooperation aur quit India movement ke khilaf thay. Gaddar voh hain jinhon ne jitna hosaka angrez ki madad ki. Gaddaar voh hain jo humaray somvidhan aur tirangay ke khilaf thay . Yeh pata laga kar voh kaun thay apni jihaalet thodi si kum karlo (sic)."
