Rajesh Keshav, a well-known face of the South Indian film industry, suddenly fainted on stage at an event going on in Kochi. When taken to the hospital, it was found that he had a cardiac arrest and is currently on ventilator support. Many such cases of cardiac arrest have come to the fore.
However, many people do not understand what cardiac arrest is, how it is different from a heart attack (Cardiac Arrest And Heart Attack Difference) and what are its symptoms. If you also do not know the answers to these questions, then let's know about them.

What is cardiac arrest?
Cardiac arrest is a sudden, serious condition in which the heart suddenly stops beating. This happens when there is a disturbance in the electrical system of the heart, due to which the heartbeat becomes irregular.
Due to this disturbance, the heart stops pumping blood to the rest of the body. The brain, lungs, and other organs do not get oxygen, due to which the person immediately becomes unconscious, and breathing stops. If proper treatment is not received, death can occur within a few minutes.
What are the symptoms of cardiac arrest?
Cardiac arrest comes suddenly and without any warning. Its symptoms are very serious-
Sudden collapse and fainting.
Breathing stops or moves abnormally.
No pulse.
Sudden stoppage of heartbeat.
Before fainting, some people may also feel symptoms like chest pain, difficulty in breathing, nausea, or rapid heartbeat, but in most cases, there are no warning signs.
What is the difference between cardiac arrest and a heart attack?
Heart attack
When a heart attack occurs, due to blockage in the coronary artery that carries blood to the heart, the heart muscles do not get blood and it starts getting damaged.
This is a problem related to blood circulation.
Before a heart attack, symptoms such as chest pressure, pain, sweating, shortness of breath, pain in the jaw, neck, or left arm appear, which can last from a few minutes to hours. Usually it starts gradually and the patient remains conscious.
The heart does not stop beating in a heart attack.
Cardiac arrest
Cardiac arrest occurs due to an electrical problem in the heart. Due to a disturbance in the electronic rhythm of the heart, the beating becomes irregular and the heart stops pumping. |
This is a problem related to the heart rhythm.

It happens suddenly and immediately. The patient immediately becomes unconscious, breathing stops, and the pulse is not found.
In this, the heartbeat stops completely or becomes very irregular.
