Actress Yogita Bihani has been in the sArchana Puran Singh’s would-be daughter-in-law Yogita Bihani is from conservative Rajasthani family, once revealed she had cooking, sewing classes to be perfect ‘bahu’potlight ever since she confirmed her relationship and engagement with Archana Puran Singh’s son, Aaryamann Sethi. The ‘Kerala Story’ actress has now become a permanent feature of Aaryamann’s vlogs, ‘Aary Vlogs,’ and the duo has moved into a palatial Madh Island bungalow gifted by Archana and her husband, Parmeet Sethi.
As the couple gets busy preparing for their upcoming wedding, an old video of the actress sharing her struggles with her conservative Marwari Bania family on YouTube has gone viral.
In a TEDx Talks video dated four years ago, ‘ The Kerala Story’ star stated she hailed from a “typical” Rajasthani family. She revealed that she realised early on, growing up, that her brother was very privileged and the girls were responsible for “ghar ki izzat” (upholding the honour of the family).
“We were not allowed to wear cut sleeves, capris, or shorts…” she admitted. While they were permitted to have friends or go out, the ultimate goal was to become a “bahu” of a privileged son.
She revealed she was given sewing lessons, cooking classes, and beauty courses, as the aim of her parents was to marry her off to a guy.
However, she did not want to follow the path set by her parents—to become a wife and a mother of two by 25—but to chart her own journey.
Her big break came when she got the opportunity to participate in a cooking reality TV show called Femme Foodies on National TV. Later, she got an opportunity to star in ads, which eventually paved the way for her acting career.
Bihani entered the world on 7 August 1995 in the city of Bikaner, Rajasthan. She belonged to a Maheshwari Marwari Bania household and grew up as one among five siblings, later spending most of her formative years in Delhi. For her higher education, she pursued a degree in computer science from Delhi University.
Her initial step into the world of glamour happened in 2018 when she contested in Femina Miss India Rajasthan. She managed to secure a place among the top three finalists that year, which gave her a small but significant entry into the limelight.
The turning point in her career arrived soon after, in April 2018, when she was chosen to appear alongside Salman Khan in the promotional campaign for his Sony TV gameshow Dus Ka Dum. Once the promo was broadcast, it caught the attention of acclaimed television and film producer Ekta Kapoor. Recognizing her potential, Kapoor offered her the lead role opposite actor Karan Kundra in the television drama Dil Hi Toh Hai.
By 2020, Bihani made her first appearance in films through AK vs AK. But it was not until 2023 that her career truly skyrocketed. She featured in Sudipto Sen’s much-discussed film The Kerala Story, a project that transformed her into a widely recognized name across India. The film turned into a massive commercial success, eventually crossing the Rs 300 crore mark at the box office and firmly establishing her presence in the entertainment industry.
