Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and his family have come forward with a joint statement following serious allegations made by his brother Faissal Khan. Faissal recently claimed that Aamir and other family members had kept him confined for over a year at his Mumbai residence and labelled him as mentally unwell. The family expressed their distress over these statements, calling them hurtful and misleading.
Aamir Khan and Family’s Official Statement
In their collective statement, the Khan family stressed that "as this is not the first time he has misrepresented these events, we feel it necessary to clarify our intentions, and reaffirm our solidarity as a family." They clarified that all decisions concerning Faissal were made with careful consideration, involving consultations with multiple medical professionals. According to the statement, these choices were grounded in love and compassion, aiming to support Faissal’s emotional and psychological health.
The family also noted that, due to the sensitive nature of the situation, they had chosen not to discuss the painful details publicly. They appealed to the media for empathy and asked that the private issue not be turned into sensational gossip. The statement was signed by many family members including Reena Datta, Ira Khan, Mansoor Khan, and others.
Faissal Khan’s Allegations
In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Faissal Khan accused his family of unjustly branding him with schizophrenia and treating him like a danger to society. He claimed that during a difficult period, Aamir had kept him locked inside his Mumbai home for a year, restricting his freedom by taking away his phone and posting bodyguards outside his room.
Faissal described feeling trapped in a “chakravyuh” — a metaphorical maze — as he struggled to break free from his family’s control. He shared that he prayed for help and wished his father, who he said remained uninvolved in family disputes at that time, would come to his rescue. After a year of confinement, Faissal said Aamir finally allowed him to move out to another house upon his insistence.
